Premier League: Tottenham v Man City, Chelsea v West Ham, Sunderland v Stoke

Reporting by: Marc Higginson, BBC Sport

Chelsea v West Ham (19:45 GMT)

On the very same weekend that Manchester City were pushing Andre Villas-Boas ever nearer to the jobs queue, Chelsea were also beginning to hit their stride - putting three past West Ham at Upton Park. The two teams meet again at Stamford Bridge tonight, needing points for much different reasons. Third-placed Chelsea can draw level with leaders Arsenal at the top, while the Hammers need only a point to drag themselves out of the bottom three. Get that bus parked, Big Sam.

Tottenham v Man City (19:45 GMT)

24 November 2013. Manchester City 6 (Six) Tottenham 0.

A dark day in the history of one of England's biggest football clubs. For Tottenham, there must surely be the temptation to re-run it all and try and right the many wrongs? Not a chance, says Tim Sherwood.

"You might scare them, when you want to motivate them," said the new Spurs boss, ahead of another dust-up with Manuel Pellegrini's men.

Sometimes, it's better to keep the horror movie in its box.

In Summary

Tottenham v Man City (1945 GMT)

Chelsea v West Ham (1945 GMT)

Aston Villa v West Brom (1945 GMT)

Sunderland v Stoke (1945 GMT)

Barcelona vs Levante: online TV info, and Start Time

By MIKE DYCE

Barcelona is playing Levante in Copa del Rey action. There has been some transfer rumors surrounding Lionel Messi, but his father is stating that Lionel will stay put.

“I have heard about those rumours and I don’t know where it came from,” Jorge Messi told L’Equipe when asked about PSG’s reported interested. ”There is nothing so far. Lionel is a Barcelona player, where he is under contract for several years [until 2018].

“It is an honour to know PSG could think about him. But I repeat it is not a subject we want to think about now. The only reality is his contract with Barca. I don’t know what we are talking about when people talk about a transfer here or there. We don’t want to think about anything, neither Paris nor any other team.”

Athletic Bilbao and Atletico Madrid are squaring off in Copa del Rey action. Madrid is still even with Barcelona at the top of the La Liga table after a 4-2 win this weekend over Rayo Vallecano.

“It was important to win after two draws,” said Atletico striker David Villa, via CBC Sports. ”We had to win, that’s the important thing, going ahead game by game. We can’t think about the rest.”

They’re looking to carry that momentum into Wednesday’s match. Madrid bring a 1-0 lead in the aggregate into the match.

Liverpool vs Everton: Date, Time, Live online and TV schedule

By Joseph Zucker

Liverpool and Everton renew their rivalry, as the Reds welcome in the Toffees for the newest edition in the Merseyside Derby.

Only one point separates the two clubs. Liverpool are in fourth with 43 points, while Everton are in sixth with 42 points. The Reds have taken 10 points from their last six matches, with the Toffees taking 11 from a possible 18 points.

This is generally a match where form goes out the window, but the close nature of these clubs' standing in the table only accentuates the unpredictability of this fixture.

Here's a quick preview for what should be a back-and-forth clash.

When: Tuesday, Jan. 28, at 3 p.m. ET; 8 p.m. GMT

Where: Anfield, Liverpool, England

TV Info: NBC Sports Network (US); BT Sport 1 (UK)

Live Stream: NBC Sports Live Extra (US); BT Sport (UK)

Odds (courtesy of Bloomberg Sports)

Liverpool Win: 45.1 percent

Everton Win: 29.3 percent

Draw: 25.7 percent

Last week against Aston Villa, the Liverpool midfield was exceptionally bad, and the biggest reason for that poor performance was the fact that Steven Gerrard was deployed deeper in midfield. He simply couldn't keep up with Villa's quick attackers. According to Squawka, Gerrard failed to make a single interception, and he lost all six of his headed duels.

To make matters worse, Lucas was injured shortly after his inclusion at the start of the second half. The Brazilian midfielder could be out for two months, leaving Brendan Rodgers with a major quandary on his hands.

Hull City is looking to move ahead of Aston Villa in the English Premier League table There have been rumors that Crystal Palace manager Tony Pulis would be walking away, but he dismissed those claims.

“I’m not one of those people. I spent 10 years at Stoke,” Pulis said, via ESPN FC. ”I’ll say this now, the supporters have been absolutely wonderful, absolutely fantastic.

“There would have to be a massive reason to leave and let them down. I’d find that very difficult to do.”

Swansea City vs Fulham: Date, Time, Live online and TV schedule

By MIKE DYCE

Swansea City and Fulham are in the bottom quarter of the table. Swansea knows this will be a must win match for them because everyone thinks they need to get three points from them.

“If you ask [Fulham boss Rene] Meuelensteen I think he would say ‘I knew it would be difficult against Arsenal at the Emirates but now the next league game we have Swansea away’,” Swansea manager Michael Laudrup said, via ESPN FC.

“I think Sam Allardyce would say the same, ‘Hey, we may lose to Chelsea on Tuesday but on Saturday we have to beat Swansea at home’.

“We all know that, let’s not fool ourselves about where we are.

“We know we have to have points against these five direct opponents and win some games, but our opponents will think the same.”

Southampton vs. Arsenal: Date, Time, Live online and TV schedule

By MIKE DYCE

Southampton enters the match day in ninth place with 31 points. No matter what happens, they’re locked into that spot but a win over Arsenal would send a statement to the rest of the league and cause some havoc at the top of the table.

“Arsenal have got a great structure,” Southampton boss Mauricio Pochettino said, via ESPN FC.

“They have got a squad with very talented players and the structure of the club allowed them to fight for the title until the end of the season. They will be there fighting for the title.”

Norwich City vs. Newcastle: Date, Time, Live online and TV schedule

By DEEPAK VIKRAMAN

"They're doing well. They had a very good run before a poorer run, and then a very good result at West Ham," Norwich manager Chris Hughton said. "What has been very good has been their away form, so that we'll have to be conscious.

"We're up against a good side but we're at home and we're concentrating very much on what we would like to do."

Alan Pardew though has been bombarded by questions over Cabaye's future, with the France international midfielder subject of a bid from PSG, while Manchester United have also reportedly showed an interest.

The manager insisted Cabaye was in the right frame of mind, and would start the game against Norwich, who are unbeaten in their last four home games against Newcastle, despite reports suggesting the midfielder could be headed to France on Tuesday to complete his switch to PSG. "Yohan's been very, very good," Pardew said. "He's preparing for the Norwich game. I expect him to play."

While Newcastle have half an eye on getting near that top-four spot, for Norwich it is all about staying as far away from the relegation zone as possible, with five points currently separating them from the bottom three.

Chris Hughton, a former Newcastle manager, has been under pressure to get results, with the 1-0 win over Hull City ten days ago lifting that pall of gloom a little bit.

"Irrespective of who the opposition were tomorrow, it's an opportunity for us," Hughton said on Monday. "We want to build on our last home performance. I personally didn't feel the scoreline was a true reflection of the Hull game. We had some really good periods and we wish we could have made it more comfortable for ourselves, but it was a game we won.

"There's a good feel at having done that and we want to extend that, and we have a good opportunity to do that tomorrow."

Team news: Norwich: Michael Turner, Elliot Bennett (both knee) and Jonathan Howson (back) are still ruled out, while Jonathan Gutierrez is ineligible to play against his parent club.

Newcastle: Mathieu Debuchy returns from a three-match suspension, but Fabricio Coloccini and Ryan Taylor remain sidelined. Papiss Cisse is also ruled out, and it remains to be seen whether Cabaye will even be involved, despite Pardew's assurances.

Expected lineups: Norwich: Ruddy; Martin, Basssong, Bennett, Olsson; Snodgrass, Fer, Johnson, Pilkington; Van Wolfswinkel, Hooper.

Newcastle: Krul; Debuchy, Williamson, Yanga-Mbiwa, Santon; Tiote, Anita; Sissoko, Cabaye, Gouffran; Remy.

Manchester United vs. Cardiff City: Date, Time, Live online and TV schedule

By Richard Langford

Manchester United will try to get their Old Trafford mojo back when they host Cardiff City on Jan. 28 for a Premier League clash.

The Red Devils have managed to win their last two home matches with a 2-1 win over Sunderland in the FA Cup and a 2-0 triumph over Swansea City in league play.

Prior to that, however, the defending Premier League champions had lost their previous two home matches and four of their last six.

Although it takes a moment to grasp that the Red Devils sit seventh in the EPL table, it is nearly impossible to wrap the brain around the fact that this club has been so abysmal on their hallowed grounds.

Of course, Cardiff would love to have "struggles" such as Manchester United. They are toiling in the cellar with just 18 points on the league year.

If the Red Devils fail to pick up three points at home against Cardiff, it may just be time to give up on the rest of the season.

Manchester United vs Tottenham Hotspur: Date, Time, Live online, TV Info and Preview

By Jack Sargeant

As for Spurs, they've been unconvincing under new boss Tim Sherwood, and were held to a 1-1 draw by struggling West Brom before they saw off Stoke City on the weekend. They're currently level on points with United in the table, though their patchy form means they'll do well to come away from Old Trafford with a result. They won 3-2 on their last visit to Old Trafford in 2012, though prior to that they hadn't won away at the Red Devils since 1989.

Their task is made harder by the absence of several first team regulars. The latest to be added to their injury list is midfielder Paulinho, who sustained ankle ligament damage against Stoke. As for United, they too are without a string of important players, though Wayne Rooney should return and Robin van Persie could return from injury layoffs.

Manchester United injuries and suspensions

Out: Marouane Fellaini (wrist), Nani (hamstring), Phil Jones (knee), Rafael da Silva (groin). In doubt: Robin van Persie (thigh), Wayne Rooney (groin).

Tottenham Hotspur injuries and suspensions

Out: Jan Vertonghen (ankle), Younes Kaboul (hip), Sandro (calf), Andros Townsend (hamstring), Paulinho (ankle). In doubt: Jermain Defoe (hamstring).

Sunderland vs Aston Villa: Date, Time, Live online, TV Info and Preview

By Matt Walsh

Sunderland welcome Aston Villa to the Stadium of Light to start the second half of the season in 2014, with both sides needing three points; Paul Lambert’s side are just 4 points above the relegation zone, while Sunderland sit bottom of the pile.

It’s unsure whether Fabio Borini will be available for the game due to his condition during half-time against Cardiff City. Christian Benteke and Ron Vlaar face late fitness tests for the trip up to the North East.

Stoke City vs Everton: Date, Time, Live online, TV Info and Preview

Manager Mark Hughes said he will not contest FA improper conduct charge after Boxing Day fury, the Daily Mail reports.

"I got pulled up on the fact I kicked a ball onto the pitch. That's a fact, so there's no way around it. I can't really defend that, that's what I did. If that's what the issue is, I'm going to have to hold my hands up," he said, according to the site.

"Everybody has their own opinions but you just want performance levels to be at a good level. We're all judged on our performances - managers, coaches, players, and referees are judged as well. We just want good performances from everybody involved in the game."

Everton, coming out of a 2-1 win over Southampton, is expected to be the favorite in the match.
Everton Manager Roberto Martínez said he is convinced the club's strong financial position means they can resist bids for midfielder Ross Barkley in January, BBC Sports reports.

"He has a long-term contract and the first half of the season has been a real joy to see him grow and the second half of the season will be even better," he said, according to the site.

"We are in a strong position financially. When you have to bring in money then it can be a real difficult position as you can be anxious and frustrated."

Southampton vs. Chelsea: Date, Time, Live online, TV Info and Preview

By  PATRICK CLARKE

Southampton will look to open the new year on a high note and make up some crucial ground in the Premier League table on New Year's Day when they host Chelsea at St. Mary's Stadium.

The Week 20 clash is a rematch of Dec. 1's showdown at Stamford Bridge, which Jose Mourinho's Blues took 3-1 in convincing fashion. However, Chelsea will be up against a much more desperate Saints squad this time around.

Mauricio Pochettino's men have fallen off the pace ever since a Nov. 23 loss at Arsenal and currently find themselves 15 points off the league-leaders' pace.

Meanwhile, Chelsea haven't lost since a slip-up at Stoke City on Dec. 7 and enter Matchday 20 just two points back of the Gunners. Recent wins over Liverpool and Swansea City have the Blues flying high ahead of Wednesday's New Year's Day matchup.

Here we'll get you set with everything you need to know before kickoff.

Liverpool vs. Hull City: Date, Time, Live online, TV Info and Preview

By  PATRICK CLARKE

Liverpool will look to avenge their disappointing Week 13 loss at Hull City on New Year's Day when they host the Tigers at Anfield.

In one of 10 Premier League matches scheduled for the holiday in Week 20, the Reds, who have fallen to fifth in the league table, will try to snap their two-match losing streak and jump back into the top four. Meanwhile, Steve Bruce's surging Hull squad will attempt the season sweep of Liverpool as they look to continue their ascent in the table.

Surely, the Reds will need another world-class performance from Luis Suarez if they are to avoid the upset and return to their winning ways. The Uruguayan superstar was unable to break through in the first meeting at KC Stadium on Dec. 1, as the Tigers took advantage of a late David Meyler strike and a Martin Skrtel own goal to pick up three points over one of England's most dangerous clubs.

The Premier League's leading scorer ahead of Week 20, Suarez is in the midst of a drought, having gone two straight matches without a goal. That's certainly great news for 10th-place Hull.

Here we'll get you set with everything you need to know ahead of Wednesday's rematch at Anfield.

Fulham vs West Ham United: Date, Time, Live online, TV Info and Preview

By James Fishlock

When West Ham United beat Fulham 3-0 on the 30th November 2013, it signalled the end of Martin Jol’s tenure as Fulham manager, as he was sacked and replaced by Rene Meulensteen.

In the last 5 meetings between the 2 teams in the Barclays Premier League, the winning team has scored 3 goals in all but 1 of the games. That match ended in a 1-1 draw back in October 2010.

West Ham have 1 away win all season, the surprising 3-0 victory away at Spurs back in October.

Fulham have won 1 and lost 4 of their last 5 league home games, that win coming against Aston Villa on the 8th December.

Fulham sit in 18th place with only 16 points from 19 matches and West Ham sit one place lower with just 15 points from their 19 matches.

There is also very little to choose between the teams in the form book. Fulham have lost 4 and won 1 of their last 5 games and West Ham United have not won in the league since they beat Fulham 3-0 in the earlier fixture between the teams at Upton Park.

Crystal Palace vs. Norwich City: Date, Time, Live online, TV Info and Preview

By Staff Writer

Crystal Palace Manager Tony Pulis said he is delighted with his team's win at Villa Park last week, Sky Sports reports.

"Really we needed that result because we'd let ourselves down with the home performance against Newcastle last week so it was nice to bounce back," he said, according to the site.

"I think we had the more clear-cut chances and the better opportunities and the keeper's made a wonderful save off Bannan - how he touches that onto the post, I don't know."

Norwich City, coming out of a 1-0 loss to Manchester United, is expected to be the underdog in the match.
Norwich City Manager Chris Hughton dismisses claims the team's midfielder Leroy Fer has struggled to adapt to the Premier League, EDP24 reports.

"I have had the opportunity to speak to Leroy and he says he never used the word depression in that article," Hughton said, according to the site.

"He had a difficult period at the start of the year when he had some injuries but it has got better and better for him. Any references to settling in is just the normal process for any new player coming to a different club or a different country."

Arsenal vs. Cardiff City: Date, Time, Live online, TV Info and Preview

BY ANDREW GOULD

Asenal will look to maintain their positioning on top of the Premier League table in 2014 when they kick off the New Year against a dysfunctional Cardiff City club.

After failing to pick up a victory in any of their consecutive three matches against fellow title contenders Everton, Manchester City and Chelsea, Arsenal still leave 2013 in first place after defeating West Ham and Newcastle.

But the Gunners still have reason to worry about losing that top spot, as they'll have to play without star midfielder Aaron Ramsey after he injured his thigh against West Ham.

Entering the matchup with Cardiff City, Ramsey was tied with Olivier Giroud for the team lead with eight goals scored. His absence leaves a dent in the line-up, but one they can fill against a railing, mediocre opponent.

Cardiff gave away two points and a two-goal lead to Sunderland, but their unorthodox owner is gaining headlines by turning his organization into a circus show. How will those distractions affect the team as they look to engineer a monumental upset?

Swansea City vs Manchester City: Date, Time, Live online, TV Info and Preview

BY TIMOTHY RAPP

The Citizens have taken 22 of a possible 24 points in their last eight matches, including four straight wins, and now find themselves just one point behind Arsenal on the Premier League table. In Manuel Pellegrini's first year at the helm, City put themselves in an excellent position through the first half of the season to make a title push.

On the other hand, Swansea City have been a bit disappointing.

The club has taken less points this season (21) than City have in their past eight games, and while they are in 11th place, they are just five points clear of the relegation zone. The underachieving has been headlined by Michu, who has just two Premier League goals in 14 appearances after scoring 18 a season ago.

Let's break down this New Year's Day clash.
