Borussia Dortmund vs Wolfsburg

Date : April 5, 2014 5:30 PM GMT
Venue : Signal-Iduna-Park, Dortmund

Borussia Dortmund are second in the Bundesliga with 55 points while Wolfsburg stay 5th with 47 points. A win for Wolfsburg will close their gap with Dortmund and Wolfsburg may come in the top four depending on the result of Bayer Leverkusen in the weekend. Wolfsburg have set their eyes on the Champions league spot whereas Dortmund want to grab the second position. Thus this is a must win fixture for both the teams.

Borussia Dortmund have suffered from injuries throughout the season and have not been able to play to their standards. They have lost domestic games on regular intervals. Recently, they have been defeated 3-0 by Real Madrid in the first leg of the Champions league quaterfinals. Their last league game was with Stuttgart. They were 2-0 down but a brilliant hattrick by Marco Reus ensured a thrilling comeback.

Wolfburg, on the other hand, have won two games consecutively and are looking in a good shape. Their last game was with Eintracht Frankfurt which they won 2-1, thanks to the goals from Olic and Naldo. Aigner’s early goal was cancelled by Olic in the 69th minute. The game was heading towards a draw but Naldo scored in the 89th minute to give Wolfsburg crucial three points.

The reverse fixture ended in a 2-1 win for Wolfsburg. Marco Reus gave Dortmund the lead in the dying stages of the first half but second half strikes from Olic and Rodriguez ensured a famous win at the Volswagen Arena.
Neven Subotic, Sven Bender, Ilkay Gundogan, Marcel Schmelzer and Jakub Blaszczykowski are injured for Dortmund while Wolfsburg will be without Diego Benaglio, Slobodan Medojevic, Bas Dost and Vieirinha. Lewandowski didn’t feature against Real Madrid due to suspension but will be available in the fixture.
